Police are appealing for witnesses after designer bags and watches worth about £50,000 were stolen from a home in East Sussex.

The daylight burglary happened at about midday on 1 May at a house near the Shell service station on the A26 in the village of Maresfield, near Uckfield.

It was reported that one man, wearing a black balaclava, coat and gloves, entered the property through an upstairs window, while another man hid in the garden.

Det Con Kieran Morris said: "We are actively investigating this burglary and have made a number of inquiries, and are compiling all the evidence we can to aid in this investigation."

CCTV showed the pair leaving the property carrying a large black handbag, a large tan handbag and a medium sized grey handbag.

Police said these bags had more designer handbags and watches inside worth approximately £50,000.

The two suspects were thought to have left in a vehicle, police added.

Anyone with information which could help Sussex Police with their investigation is urged to contact the force.
